Latin America is not exactly a 'strong' area for BA
....money is made on the usual routes (those where you would anticipate strong demand to & from London).
I speculate it may just be that there isn't enough traffic between the UK & Mexico to warrant a daily service...at the moment the airline is reviewing its route network and making changes (mostly dropping or reducing services) in order to save money - remember, BA
is an airline in trouble...
Recent examples include scrapping the flights to Chile (though this is because of LA
membership), reducing services to Argentina to 3 flights weekly (and now via GRU
with a 777 instead of a nonstop 744), and reductions & equipment changes on flights to Colombia & Venezuela.
Perhaps 3x week to MEX
is realistic - given BA
's behaviour in other parts of the region, if MEX
was served more frequently, they might have also reduced its frequencies.
Strange, Mexico is regarded as a popular destination in Britain...I think a lot of people are using LH
(like I do, to fly to Argentina) simply because those airlines offer much cheaper fares. BA
are very expensive on such routes.
