Lets Make A Airline

Sun Sep 28, 2003 3:28 pm

How about lets try something different here. Lets say hypothetically there was a new airline to start up tomorrow for business. In the united states what would be the best location for the airline to have its MAJOR hub. Next, mention some possible focus cities to open up. After that what routes should they fly (International or Domestic). Finally, create a fleet (NO Boeing vs. Airbus ect. Please). Hypothetically lets also say it is already is a respected carrier. Lets see how exciting this can get.

Maybe it should fly Lockheed L-1049s and operate coast-to-coast routes painted in old Eastern Airlines colors!

You all know that I'm kidding, and that I'd most like to start up an LCC at MCI with MD-80s/717s... But you would all say that I'm crazy, so I'll beat you to the punch:

My ideal airline would be based in Omaha Nebraska. This city is almost in the center of the continental USA. With a fleet of 20 to 30 717s initally, I'll be able to reach just about any city in the country. I'll have a one-class cabin, with a 33 inch pitch, serving just soda, peanuts & preztels. If WN can start out this way, why can't I?  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

The thing to do is so simple that it is probably the reason so many majors can not actually get it, treat people, this includes your employees like you want to be treated. Deliver what you say, at a fair price, and treat everyone like he or she is your most important customer you ever had...... Hire the right people from the start, train them to do the job you want them to do and then let them go to work.

OMG, for the last few months I have been thinking of an imaginary new airline to come abouts. First it would start out with the purchase of Executive Airlines (an American Eagle company). Since Executive Airlines is based out of mostly from SJU, it would be renamed Aerolíneas Puertorriqueñas. Maintaining its status a Caribbean carrier it would transcend to be a powerful carrier for the Latin American market, including services to the U.S., Mexico, Central/South America and Spain.

With its own FF Program, Coquí Club, with 3 top tier statuses (Coquí Verde, Coquí Plata and Coquí Dorado). The fleet would change from the current ATR's to an all jet product. From an ERJ-135 to a 767-300. The aircraft's would be white with a red belly, its lettering would be in blue and the logo would have Coquí behind it the island of Puerto Rico in a sea-green background. The airline would also have codeshare/FFP agreements with AA, LanChile, Grupo Taca, Mexicana, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Iberia.

The things one can think of when you have time.
