Ryanair Reaches Provisional Agreement With EU

Sun Sep 28, 2003 6:24 pm

It appears that Ryanair's CEO & EU Transport Commissioner Loyola de Palacio have reached agreement on Ryanair's use of subsidies on its routes across Europe; that includes the incentives that local semi-public/public airports offer Ryanair in order to establish new routes or services.

The agreement must still be ratified. Changes will be made to the way in which these deals are put out to tender, however the airline will not be asked to return any money received thus far.

Loyola de Palacio said the EU is extremely keen to see low-cost airlines grow. Full explanation below.
