CO Route/Equipment Types?

Sat Oct 04, 2003 10:59 am

During the late 1980s - early 1990s, MSO, BZN, BIL, BIS, MOT and FAR were among the cities served by Continental mainline from their since-disbanded DEN hub. Unfortunately, the CO timetables I have from this period do not show equipment types used. What aircraft types were used by CO from DEN to the above-mentioned cities c. 1990?

Thank you for any information you can offer.

I think you'd find that it was a combination of mostly DC-9-30's, DC-9-10's, 737-100's and -200's, and maybe a stray MD-90. Flight 1713 from DEN to BOI, which crashed in '88, I believe, was a DC-9-10.

"stray MD-90"

He meant M80.

I did some digging and found my OAG flight guide from Feruary 1, 1991.

Since Im tired Im just going to post info on some flights from Denver Stapleton on CO, note these I just a couple I picked out and do not include Express..

Billings 1 737-200, 1 DC9-30
Bismark-Minot 1 737-200, 1 737-300
Bozeman, Missoula 1 727-200, 1 737-300
El Paso 1 737-200, 1 737-300
Grand Junction 2 737-200
Miami 2 M80
Spokane, Vancouver 2 737-200
SteamBoat Springs 1 727-200, 1 737-300
Tampa 1 727
Washington Dulles 1 M80, 2 737-300

(Note.. At this time CO was not flying to Fargo)

On another interesting note at this time (Feb 1991) both CO and UAL were flying nonstop from Denver to Honolulu, CO with a DC-10 and UAL with a DC-8!
