neither.... i believe they bothe had Delta charters last night (left from the gate next to each other and arrived at the gate next to each other!)

I know the Washington Capitals (NHL) and the Washington Wizzards(NBA) share a Pace airlines 737-200.

Detroit Redwings departing NHL cities in the wee hours of the morning in a DC-9???? What a rediculous choice of aircraft for a job like that. Something a bit bigger, and CERTAINLY a bit quieter would be a better choice: an A320 or a 757-200. Not that the Red Wings need more 'hate' directed their way, but I guess they'll get it.

The Islanders use Midwest Express charters, usually utilizing a DC9-30 or MD-80 series a/c (although a couple times last season they did use a DC9-10). I assume they just take whatever YX gives them...considering they have used DC9-30s from Long Island to Florida, and MD-88s to BOS. 99% of the time they depart/arrive from FRG (Farmingdale). Maybe this season, theyll get a 717 mixed in! Chris, you are right. It is very hard to believe that these places allow DC9-30s to go out so early in the morning. Especially considering FRG is right in the middle of residential areas.

However, during the preseason for their flight to/from PIT, they flew commercial flights---I assume USAirways.

Was that an example, using The Colts in your topic, or are you saying The Colts are chartered with Northwest now? They had always used TZ up to now, and occasionally, the would take an L10.
Flying is the second greatest thrill known to mankind, landing is the first!

I can vouch that last season the Colts used NW....sounds like they are doing it again this season. ATA isn't the hometown airline it used to be. Heck, even the Pacers use YX last time I checked

Arizona flew in on a 757 in America West's normal livery when they were in STL last week.

Detroit owns their DC-9. Most NHL teams fly on 737-200s operated by Pace Airlines or Skyking. The Canadian teams use Air Canada a lot but they also fly in on 737s. Those are extended range models with a tiny aft cargo hold. Not fun to load. The only other NHL team that I know of who has their own aircraft is the Dallas Stars, the owners of the team just rehabed a 727-200 they bought from AA and it is absolutley stunning.
