How AirFrance, KLM Merger Affects NW

Mon Oct 06, 2003 2:08 am

When Air France takes over KLM, what is going to happen to their deal with NW. I am not sure but I think that NW will now be joining SkyTeam which also has AirFrance, will they just start code sharing with them, is this right?

I would guess that your thoughts are correct.

With KL going into SkyTeam, NW and CO almost must follow. I am curious if American Anti-Trust rules will get in the way with that.

I bet NW will join first, then CO. But before either of them join, a new non-US or European carrier is due.

Anti-trust issues are behind the alliance now. They already approved the NW CO DL alliance.

Nothing will change between NW-KL; they'll operate as they do now for years to come.

The KLM merger with Air Franco doesn't effect NWA at all. In fact it was NWA who pushes KLM into Air France, when NWA started to talk with CO and DL about a possible code-shares within the USA
