Old Cs Vs New Cs

Wed Oct 08, 2003 4:30 pm

Are there some old colour schemes that you prefer in comparison with the new ones from the same airline ?

For example, I prefer much more the old SAS cs than the new one.

Oh, I totally LOVE the JAS rainbow colors on the MD-90s and the JAS 777s. It's a shame that I will no longer be able to see anymore of those fantastic paint schemes soon. I took some digital photos and I'm working on cleaning them up for airliners.net. Not sure if they will take them.

As for other airlines...

The Delta Airlines scheme (before the intermediate and the now current colors) totally rocked. There was nothing better that you could paint a 727 or 737-200 with. I got a model of DL's 727-200 on my desk in that paint scheme. Totally beautiful!!!

It was also the color that (in my opinion) brought out the best lines of the DC-8 series aircraft.
Save the whales...for dinner!!!

Here the new schemes are allright, but the old ones were even better:
British Airways (old Landor vs. UK flag)
Northwest (old Bowlingshoe vs. nwa)
El Al (old bold blue vs. gift-wrap-bands)

And here the new one is just bad compared to the old:
Egyptair (old red/gold against bluetail)
old green JMC vs. Thomas Cook
old yellow Condor vs. Thomas Cook
ATA American Trans Air (old Palmtree vs. gold-band, but that is also because they switched from the cute Tristar to the ugly 757-300)

And the worst change that comes to my mind:
World Airways (old red/gold vs. white/black)

This was just about to come back into a renaissance peak of retro fashion:

Re. Varig:
Yes, in the way of Air India. But the blue tone of the old Varig livery is awful and dull. I don´t like the old Varig livery with its cluttered titles.

Still don't know what to think about the new Cs. My first impression was that it's quite boring and simple. Still can't loose this impression...

The grey on the older Cs. looks more elegant than that cheap-looking metallic.

The topic here shows it very well, everyone has its own impression about colourshemes. For the one, the new NW livery is amazing, for the otherone its just boring.

In fact, the only thing that I hope, is that airlines, that didnt change their livery since years, will do so in the next future ( I think especially on AF).

More colours please !!!!

I got used to the new NWA and KLM colours, and love them now, but AUA's new scheme is just awful.

I fully agree with you. The new OS is really not the best.
