I guess GoingBoeing has some insight into the costs of the LiveTV/DirectTV set up on JetBlue's A320s.... I have no info to accept or deny those figures.
As for the last question, the service is free and the headphones are given to all passengers upon boarding. Sometimes, there is just a big bucket of headphones and you have to help yourself. The headphones are cheap but they work just fine - you can also hook up your own headphones if you brought them with you.
Movies would be nice on the trans-con flights but a lot of JetBlue's flights are between JFK
and Florida and Upstate New York, so the live TV
is ideal for these trips. The selection is pretty broad but remember JetBlue is a family airline and therefore cannot have HBO or other channels with adult content on them. The live TV
certainly helps passing the time on trans-con flights, but during the west coast to east coast redeyes, some of the networks have infomercials and there are only so many ESPN Sportcenters you can watch!! The TV
is cool though and certainly helps establish JetBlue as one of the premier LCCs in the world, in my opinion. Anyway, on the redeyes, try sleeping instead of watching infomercials!
