According to the television guide, it is "Who Killed Jesus?". What is your source on this info?

Thanks for the information. I just finished watching it. It is really interesting to see how one little part can cause the whole A330 to shutdown. Thank god everyone was safe in the ending. I still like Air Transat alot though.

Marco Scocco was the pussy whiney boy ... don't you remember from the Dateline show, we were discussing it here on a.net? He was much worse and dramatic on the Dateline show though. I'm just being mean though, it would have been a traumatic experience to say the least.

Fantastic show.

I have a new found respect for the Captain Robert Piche and the First Officer. I realize now that it was most likely Air Transat Maintenance how screwed this one.

Well ... we'll wait for the final report to be published. But my understanding is, while it's always difficult to be in the actual situation, maybe they didn't handle it properly either. They got themselves into a mess, but they got out of it too. Frankly I think most pilots would have been able to do the same, point towards land and put the sucker down. Still, in the end, the outcome could have been much worse.

The program is called "Mayday" and will air again a few more times.

Also in this series is the Swiss Air crash Flt 111 and the Air Alaska Flt 261 crash.

Here is the link to the website with the times and air dates. If you select a date and time, you can send out email reminders.

Great depiction of the real thing. They did state in the first few minutes that this program is based on educated analysis and not from info from Air Transat and its crew as they declined to participate.

Yeah but if you looked closely, the primary indications didnt show anything of concern.. only after did an extraordinary fuel burn show.

I really want to catch the Swissair and Alaska shows too. Both were horrific crashes. Glad the Transat flight didn't end up that way too.

ROFL Gomez!!

I've seen the Swissair show and I was very very impressed by how it was presented. Swiss and the FAA participated and there is a lot of video footage of the FAA (I hope I'm getting the right organization) searching through the wreakage, problem solving, and eventually solving the question of "why".

I suggest all of you mark that one on your calendar.. VERY good show.

Judging from the way this (AT) show unfolded, I'd think that the pilots will be partially blamed for this. Regardless, they landed safely and that is all that counts in my mind. I just hope that when the report(s) come out that Air Transat's image isn't ruined. We in the industry know that there are those in the public who are quick to judge - and pilot error or maintenance failures can be a reason not to fly on a particular airline.

I'm sure all the publicity damage that's to be done has already been. Didn't seem to really slow things down (too much?) for TS, though. Bottome line - Build your airline on cheap fares and they will come.
I'm wondering if the A330 doesn't have better glider capabilities than say... a B767? In that case, the pilots would have had an advantage setting that big bird down on all fours, thanks (in part) to those long-ass wings?
In spite of it all, I'm truly happy it ended without casualties. The pilots did a good job of averting sure disaster. Also, the aircraft is still in service to this day. And that's a good thing.

Shame on you, CanadaEH, thinking that the American FAA would be heading a Canadian investigation.  Big grin Actually it was the CTSB - Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

The captain was an idiot to allow the incident to occur. Why he is hailed as some hero is beyond me.

Well Greg, myself not being in that flightdeck, they were faced with a situation that they had never seen before. They did the checklists, and worked to the best of their abilities I'm sure. It's easy to say "oh, they opened the cross feed and got all their fuel out the right side, they are idiots." But how would other crews have reacted in the same situation without some sort of precedent?

I tend to agree that the pilots did screw up and got themselves into the situation. I also think they did a very good job of landing, but most would have been able to do the same I'm sure. But I feel calling the pilots idiots is pointless.

That's true Tony, but don't forget his happened less than 3 weeks before 9-11, so it was quickly forgotten.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Can't wait to see this on Discovery Europe!

Just watched an equally fantastic Discovery documentary on the Concorde crash, putting the entire blame on AF...very interesting.
