ACA CRJ-200's

Thu Oct 09, 2003 12:49 pm

Has ACA started to strip the United Express logo off of their CRJ's? One bird came in to GRR today today from ORD and the U's were off the tail and United Express was taken off the cabin. I didn't get a look at the tail and was wondering if they were getting ready to start their LCC or the Mesa takeover..which ever comes first.

That airplane was stripped of the United name and logo over a year ago for use in charter operations.....however, sometimes they still use it for United Express revenue flights!!

The newewst RJ's that ACA are getting do not have the Tulip or UAX titles on the fuselage. N701BR was repainted from the DL operation without the UA tulip or titles. N690BR-N699BR do not have the titles.

Only a few ACA birds are missing the UAL logo so they can be used for charter operations, as stated. It has nothing to do with the LCC. The "Mesa takeover" is only an unsolicited bid from Mesa, not something that will definately happen at this point (and hopefully never will).

The first sign of the coming LCC will appear soon in the form of new red leather seats in the CRJs.

It does not have to do with the charter op or the LCC. It is the last delivered a/c that are missing the UAL logos.

I am going to guess that the LCC colors are going to be the original livery that we had on the RJ's when they first got delivered before UA approved the jets under the UAX program.

The missing logos have 100% to do with charter flying. There is even a J41 missing the UAL logo, so it can be used for charter flying. And those were delivered years ago.

The LCC brand will be completely new.

ACA does the same thing with the DL 328 jets. Some of the planes flown are not painted in DL connection colors - just plain blue and white. Same as what Skywest does with EMB-120s. They use the Brasilias on both UA and DL flights, so they stay in the ugly old silver Skywest livery.

ACA has some FroJos operating as DL Connection with the 'ACA Private Shuttle' scheme - nice for spotting / bad for PR.
