Indian Airlines Hijacking Finally Ended!

Fri Dec 31, 1999 11:14 pm

According to my local news, India has released 3 persons from prisons as the hijackers demanded and all passengers onboard the Indian Airlines A300 have been released, and are on their way back home.

Thanks for the good news. I was frustrated to know how that Indian Airlines hijack was going to end after one week of nightmare. I was watching the belgian news on TV yesterday evening, a former flight attendant from Sabena was being interviewed. She was on a flight hijacked by palestinians back in 1972, she said it was getting to be an endless nightmare. I feel now relived, hearing that all hostages have finally been released. What a nice way to finish the year 1999! Happy new millenium to all.

Indeed, this is great news! An interesting touch is that the hijackers have been released with the 3 released militants, and have been told that they had 10 hours to leave the country or they would be arrested.

One news report I heard mentioned that the body of a dead hijacker was found in the cockpit; I've not heard this story elsewhere.

So, Terrorism Does Pay.

As happy as I'am for the released passengers, it sticks in my throat that these bastards have got away with murder. What type of message does this send to other brain damaged lunatics? It seems terrorism DOES pay. As has been displayed here. I just hope this does not start a spate of hijackings around the globe.

It's ended alright, though for the price of showing that hijackings can be indeed successfull from the perspective of criminals. Criminals,by their very nature tend to exploit those they view are weak as an easy opporotunity. The next "line in the sand" must be held with even greater tenacity against criminal behavior.

Anybody watching the ABC coverage of 2000 last night? I thought I heard Peter Jennings make a slip and say that the AIR INDIA hijacking was over. Did anybody else hear it?

It doesn't matter, I'm just glad it's over.

Yes its over, the hijackers picked up there released from prison friends and took off. They were given a 10 hour head start to leave the country.

Before everyone starts stating that terrorism pays, think about this.
1.No country around them wanted them.

2.Don't ever believe politicians. 10 hour head start. HeeHeeHee.

3. Spy satellites that can count the hairs on your head.

4. US has said it would help apprehend terrorists. (spy satellites working overtime).

5. The terrrorists are wanted.

So you still think the terrorists got off free,eh. Ok.

This hostage crisis is a perfect example of winning the battle but losing the war. By giving in to the hijackers, this gives a clear green light to any potential terrorists out there that hijacking works once again. In fact, the only thing that put a stop to the rampant hijackings in Europe during the 1970's and 80's was the refusal of governments to cooperate with the demands of terrorists...clearly this move is a step backward.

Believe me, the bastards got off scot free, literally getting away with murder. They will flee across the border to Pakistan without a problem never to be heard from again. Maybe Pakistan didn't want them and maybe they did, but that government will harbor terrorists before allowing the Indian government to score a victory. Remember that Pakistan gives only "moral" support to Kashmiri separatists which in fact translates to direct economic and military don't believe this nonsense about no country wanting them.

They will be back on the Kashmiri front lines in a matter of weeks murdering yet more innocents. Don't expect the US to track him down with its fabulous spy satellites...they have no reason to help out in this instance and traditionally have horded their technology for their own political and military ends.

These bastards have become heroes and that sickens me. I'm glad the passengers are alright but at what cost??

As I have already said, and HZ-AKF has backed up, these scumbags have got away with murder. The Indian government handled the whole situation very badly. Once you give these lowlives an inch they want to take a mile. Be ready for a spate of hijackings in the future. Thanks to the mis-handling of this one. Remember, they murdered a passenger in cold blood. I hope the person who committed this act meets an very painful death.
