He flew on LOT's SP-LLB. When he was in Poland that particular aircraft had a special sticker with the Vatican insignia.

A321 and MD-80s of Alitalia were used an numerous occasions.
How much A is there is Airliners Net ? 0 or nothing ?

A girl from my highschool was on an Alitalia flight FCO-JFK (I think) and Mother Theresa was in first class. She said they announced over the PA that Mother Theresa wanted all the children on the plane to come up and visit her. She gave each of them some little trinket, which she brought to school.

The rules are:
Alitalia on TO leg and airline from visited country on RETURN leg.

I think he flew on Aeromexico´s DC-10 back in 1979 (or was it 78? whatever) and an Alitalia MD-11 in some other year.

Best to all

And the usual joke :

Why does the pope kneel and kiss the ground upon arrival ?

??

??

??

Well, actually, a lot of people do it after flying AZ !

Im surprised that the Vatican doesnt operate their own aircraft for the Pope...maybe a Gulfstream or A319CJ/BBJ type..

The media usually flies with the pope on the plane, so I Think there are too many reportes to fit them in a smaller plane. To them you should add the Bishops, Cardinals, Swiss Guards et al. That makes a lot of people.

maybe they use some of those "smaller" planes for flights inside Italy.
