Germania Express

Who knows what's happening with this airline?

I know they bought a whole swag of F100s at a bargain basement price and have started routes all over Europe. I note they will be commencing more new routes shortly, ironically operating almost parallel schedules to the soon-to-start Heveltica.com out of ZRH.

What are their loads like? And more importantly are they making any money? I haven't seen a Germania trip report or anything said about them here at all. On their website, there hasn't been any news updated for a long time

I have not flown with them yet as they do not serve any routes that I would want to fly for the time being. And information being spread regarding that airline is fairly slim but that was already the case with "mainline" Germania.
The only thing I heard is that the loads have climbed from a very bad 40% after launch to roughly 70% now and they want to make some money by 2004.

They have registered a new company in Switzerland and will start new regular flights out of Zurich this comming Winter.Seem they suffer from heavier than expected maintenance delays on their Fokker AC and have ,in the past, announced new routes that were actually never flown. But it seem they get their act together and are improving on loads and seriousness.

They call themselves "low cost", but in reality aren´t: they sell all seats at all times for a fix price - which is quite high: e.g. FRA-TXL is 77 EUR oneway.

For further information, please go to http://www.germania-express.de , change to the English version and click on "flight info". There you can select any route they fly and see the respective fare.

I hear their seat pitch is rather generous: they retained the 20 rows of seats which the a/c had when in service with USAirways.

Wait until the end of December, you´ll get one.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
