What is American Airlines going to do with TWA's dorment routes?

BOS-CDG
BOS-FCO

IAD-CDG

JFK-ARN
JFK-ATH
JFK-BCN
JFK-CAI-RUH
JFK-FCO
JFK-IST
JFK-LAS
JFK-LIS
JFK-MAD
JFK-MXP
JFK-TLV
JFK-VIE

STL-CDG

Have these routes been sold?
Have the slots been sold?

Whatever happened to the STL-NRT on TWA rumor back in 1998!
Whatever happened to the A330's TWA was to aquire?

Any information is greatly appreciated!

Thanks .... aand to any of you that were once a part of the great airline. Thank You, you have inspired generations to come!

Obviously since AA has cut all but a few former TWA staff, the STL 'hub' is now just an extra 'spoke' with a few more flights and the TLV staff were dismissed, (I believe AA and LY have a codeshare agreement on the JFK/TLV route) it's pretty obvious AA has no plans to utilize any of these routes.

Just like the old PA routes from FRA that DL acquired. They're no longer utilized, either.

There is still a hope then! Wow, I was suprised to see

AA sold out during this summer on all of its Chicago and JFK to Rome flights! 2 Flights a day with 180 passengers on a 3-class 767-300! Not to bad!
What is Northwest doing next summer, can they even afford to test FCO or MXP again!

It is funny that in the 1990's

*Alitalia had 4 flights a day from JFK-FCO and MXP, all on 747-200's,

*TWA had (in summer) 2 JFK-FCO on 747-100's, and 2 JFK-MXP 1 747-100 and 1 767-300!

*Delta had 2 flights from JFK-FCO and MXP on 767-300's, and

*EL AL briefly flew 747-200's JFK-FCO!

*TowerAir flew Charters on the 747-100 to Milan and Rome as well!

Now there is no demand??? Hard to believe!

Kl, je praat als een kip zonder kop and none of it makes any sense.
No one mentioned that there was no demand, just that AA most likely has NO PLANS to exercise the route authorities from the U.S. of A. that it acquired when it bought TWA.

AA still operates BOS-CDG, but it is on their own authority. A lot of the cities mentioned are under Open Skies though, so there is no real need for route authority, and the other destinations don't have the demand for most airlines to fly it in this environment.

AA had plans to start JFK BCN, but it was axed because of the economy, hopefully that will change...

Most of those routes mentioned do not require route authorities to launch since there are open skies agreements, TWA got rights but not slots to launch STL-AA), Japan">NRT.

Since there's no more STL hub, don't expect to see any flights to AA), Japan">NRT from STL.

Also TWA's slots at JFK are pretty meaningless, besides the fact that most of the Countries they flew to now have open skies agreements with the US the slot restrictions at JFK itself are being phased out by 2007.

AA bought TWA to get rid of a discounter, not to get access to their JFK-Europe flights.

And CO had them all beat with twice daily flights from EWR-Rome (Dc-10, 777) Tel Aviv 2 777s, two daily to CDG 1 DC-10, 1 777, and 1 daily 777 flight to MXP from EWR on top of their other 16 trans Atlantic flights as late as 2001.

To correct some errors on the above posts, Alitalia did not have 4 daily flights into JFK from FCO and MXP. There has always been a year-round daily service from JFK to both MXP and FCO. During the summer, AZ used to add a second daily JFK-FCO flight on a seasonal basis, before the EWR-FCO flight was added. Alitalia never had 2 daily flights from JFK to MXP. They did fly at one time in the 1980's, AZ 1600 (FCO-MXP-JFK) and AZ 1601 (JFK-MXP-FCO) but it did not operate in tandem with a second daily JFK-FCO flight.

Tower Air never operated scheduled flights from JFK to either FCO or MXP.

Delta never operated double daily to MXP and FCO from JFK, only twice daily in the summers of 1997-1999, before SkyTeam, to FCO. There was only one daily to MXP and it now is not operating.

As does B6, don't look for AA to expand domestically from JFK.

More and more of JFK's Domestic flights are being taken over by LCCs, eventually all of (or whats left of) DL's Domestic flights from JFK (LAX, PHX, SEA, SFO) will be operated by Song. LAX, SEA, PHX, SFO are almost all 757s anyway.

jetBlue also operates JFK-LAS.

Delta is still flying JFK-MXP. Operates MoWeFrSu as DL 84/85. It operates daily during the summer.
