Best Terminal Spotting In The U.S.

Sat Oct 25, 2003 9:46 am

Hey all, I was wondering which west coast United States airport has the best terminal spotting? criteria for this would be variety of aircraft, and airports where "when your in, your in" Where you can get in and don't have to go through additional security checkpoints... How's LAX for this, and DEN? Thanks a lot... open to any other suggestions! Thanks for any help!

Once you clear security in DEN there is a train that runs between all other concourses. I'm not sure how the spotting is from the terminal but once your in it's easy to move from one concourse to another

Believe it or not I have to say Cleveland is one of the best terminals I've been to for spotting inside the terminal. Once through security you can walk all the concourses and the TSA doesn't say anything to you. Infact one TSA agent stricked up a conversation with me about my camera. While Cleveland may not have the most exotic aircraft the spotting inside the terminal was very good.

Tbird...last time I checked Cleveland wasnt on the west coast  Big grin

Anyways...DEN is ok...the runways arent horribly close to the terminal but the bridge between the Terminal and Concourse A is great...good view of United Express and Frontier gates...

Dam I am tired, that's what happens when you get up at 4:00 Am to go watch the Concorde. In any event Cleveland is west of Long Island, lol. I'd say KLAS then, the HP terminals provide a good location for the taxing inbound aircraft.

DEN is great for spotting as long as you like United and Frontier. Despite the large variety of aircraft at LAX, I find most domestic terminals to have poor vantage within the terminals, especially United's Terminal 7. In the Tom Bradley Intl. Terminal, you get some decent views on the upper level, without going through security. In addition, I have to say that UA's North Satellite at SEA has great runway views...a great way to occupy the 2 hours I had to sit there last year.

SEA's B terminal has good runway views when planes are taking off to the north. If you are a member of CO's Presidents Club, there are fewer jetways in the way of their windows.

If you only want to go spotting:
LAX - Tom Bradley Int'l. No good for photo's, but on the upper level are large windows on both sides overlooking the runways. No need to go through security.
