What makes you say that the WBC does not have PTVs? The economy class does! I'd venture to say that although many airlines (like Virgin, SQ, Cathay, JAL, etc.) are starting to put their screens on the back of seats (due to the larger sizes) the WBC for KLM features armrest PTVS.

The PTV is probably in the armrest, like many other airlines' Business Class.

Why do they have the seat back pocket up so high? It just seems like stuff would come flying out if you hit severe turbulence.

Do you think that it would be a wise move on Airbus and Boeing's part if they said that ALL future orders for B 744 pax versions as well as B 777s and A 330/340s and B 7E7 + A 380s must have PTVs in every seat to increase customer satisfaction? As these planes are mainly for long haul routes so having a ptv reduced boredom too and makes time fly by fast especially if you watch a long movie or maybe 2 in a row  Big grin

Well, it might not be that good an idea since certain airlines may not be willing to pay for the maintenance costs. These things cost money to maintain, and they also cost money since the airline needs to buy the rights to screen a movie or play a piece of music on the inflight entertainment system.

Pilottim747: I would think the seat back pocket is high because it is hard to reach them if they are lower and the seat in front of you is in full recline.

By the way, it looks like KLM and Continental are using the same supplier for their new business class seats. A very similar version is offered in Continental's new BusinessFirst Class.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to see this 777 inside at Schiphol Airport, and it's true: the ptv are in the armrests. In the tourist class the screens are as usual in the frontseat.

It looks HORRIBLE! At least CO has 2-2-2 in BusinessFirst and NW's new A330 is 2-2-2. But 2-3-2 in KL's "New" WBC!? It's worse than it was before!

What's the pitch/recline? SU has 2x3x2 on 772s. That says something.
The A333 is far superior to the 777 seat wise. THey knock off the flat bed stile.

I'm not too impressed with KL's new 777 product. The cabin is not very appealing at all. The blue bulkheads aren't doing it for me. The J seats look very boxy - I'm just not taken with it....anybody else?

Have been to the sneak preview today of KLM's B777 have to admit that the WBC is 2-3-2 config what i really do regret that they have choosen for that option.
I am not impressed with that at all.Looks very plastic at the seats are not comfortable to me and indeed the PTV's are in the armrests.
For me the best row to sit is 18 behind WBC and 31 emergency exit.

Big surprise was the economy 3-3-3 but with 31 rows and one row 2-3-2 that is a lot of seats compared to other airlines.

But the new color looks awesome.

Even if they have PTV's those seats look like plastic box's stuck to a chair. IMHO, Those seats do not look very comfortable.

The seatpockets/ privacy screen are so high because to seat slides down forward instead of moving back. It gives the passengers behind you more space left when you want to sleep & the passenger behind you doesn´t ..

The seats as used by CX, LH and others take away the space in front of you even more because the seat back is hard top & fixed, even if the passenger in front of you is inhe upright position.

Also all the big screens flickering in the dark on the high fixed seatbacks can give a Las Vegas like look to the cabin, many passengers don´t like that all night...

The KLM/CO seat´ sleeping comfort is the same (it can go flat under a small angle). You have more living space left during day time (and then is when you need it.)

About the 2-3-2, the seats are as wide as on a 2-2-2 Airbus. The load factor in business is on average 60-70%. The seat are empty most of the times. Aisle passenger love the free middle seat next to them ...

Most business classes have their PTV's in the armrest. You have to press a butten and pull it out. At least in Swiss's business it is like this.

For those folks that still need proof that there is a PTV, here you go.

I really like the look of the cabin; especially the blue bulkheads. I think it's an awesome effect. It makes the cabin seem warm, friendly, and cozy. I wouldn't mind at all if KLM sent some of these 777s my way (ORD)...

The blue is nice...different...but the seats look pretty small and less than "cushy" for a business product -- or is this just an illusion?

"What's the pitch/recline?"

58" on the port and starboard sides, 60" in the middle.
