Which Are The Big[gest] Airlines?

Sun Oct 26, 2003 3:59 pm

Those that make long-ranges or large-route-high-capacity their cash crop.

Will their websites have a sales division phone number?

Side question: are these the primary target airlines for future high-speed transports (note the wording)?

It depends on what area you're referring to. Around the world, Singapore seems to be the biggest one, with flights all over the globe.
The biggest country in the world is dominated by Aeroflot.
In the United States, FedEx is the biggest airline, while American Airlines is the biggest passenger airline.
The list may go on and on...

The biggest passenger airlines I thought are currently the ones generally in America: American Airlines, United Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, and Continental Airlines. There are many gigantic airlines out there, but focus in on the United States and western Europe, and in East Asia as well. These tend to be the general trends of where the mega-carriers are located. The three biggest I believe are American Airlines, British Airways, and United Airlines, and I suspect Delta and Continental aren't far behind.

Pretty vague questioning... if you wanted it broken down by pax ASMs worldwide...

AA is by far the largest, followed by UA and DL as numbers 2 and three.

Well, let us assume that most of the issues associated with sonic aircraft were alleviated, who would buy one provided range was still an issue?

Don't say every airline. That is not realistic.

I guess I am implying mainly oceanic travel: who are they?

Well, Singapore and Emirates are the first ones who come to mind as the airlines who would want the best and the fastest.
