The caption says Lebanese PM's private jet I would say it belongs to the Country of Lebanon.

Based on the caption, I'd guess that'd be the Lebanese version of Air Force One. So if you want to consider that a "private jet," looks like G. Dub gets a pair of 747s as his private jets.

The aircraft is owned by Rafic Hariri, the PM of Lebanon, not by the government of Lebanon.

That would be like Dubya actually owning Air Force One.

If a country, Lebanon, is so poor, why buy a 777? Try that in a democraty, the President owning his own 777.......... Should make more sense to feed the people properly.

The country may be poor, but not the people running it. Remember our friend Saddam?

After doing some research it's evident that Hariri is loaded...hell, back in '87 the man offered Amine Gemayel $30,000,000 to resign the presidency six months early and then offered the Syrians $500,000,000 to permit the succession of Johnny Abdo, the head of Lebanese army intelligence, who would then appoint Hariri prime minister of Lebanon. Gemayel declined but still, if a man can offer a sum of half a billion dollars for a single political favor, I think now that he can afford a 777. Wouldn't it be nice to have that sort of money to throw around?  Wow!

KL911 and CRJmx: Lebanon isn't a poor country. It may have a phenomenal national debt, but it has the most banks and the most plastic surgeons relative to it's population - in the world. Two pretty interesting barometers. There are slums and Palestinian refugees but it doesn't feel poor, Beirut is rammed with posh high rise apartments and you're nothing if you don't drive a BMW or a Merc. And it is a democracy.

Rafiq Hariri is a billionaire thanks to his previous life in property and construction in Saudi. None of his wealth is a result of being the Lebanese PM, indeed he is PM because his personal fortune makes him incorruptable. I'm not even sure if he draws a wage as PM. To compare him to Saddam or make out that Lebanon is some kind of third world dictatorship shows considerable ignorance.

Mr. Hariri is from a very rich family. As far as I know he already ordered the aircraft before he became PM of Lebanon.
Search Yahoo or Google for "hariri" and you will find many sites about him.

@CRJmx, please do not relate to Saddam here, HE only killed school-children.

Cedarjet: Thanks for correcting me. However, anyone is corruptable, if you find the right button.

On a lighter side, it sure would be nice have your own 777!! Us average saps have Winnebago's, that guy has a frickin' Triple 7!

Is this the only personal 777 in the world? Who else has one?

The second one is owned by Mid East Jets. Isn't that a charter company or something? I think the first one is the only personal 777, unless someone can identify the "Disco" 777.  Smile

The 777 pictured in the thread starter was in ATH last Saturday. We parked right next to it. I enquired about it and was told a totally different story. According to my information, the plane belongs to a former teacher of a Saudi Prince's kids. This teacher has since become a major construction firm and owns the plane. I find this a bit hard to believe. i mean, any businessman can have his own private jet. But a 777?

Just wanted to share this with you.
