Armavia Leases 3rd A320

Mon Oct 27, 2003 11:11 pm

Private Armenian carrier Armavia has leased a 3rd A320 with CFM56 engines (msn 142). This will join the other two A320-211s already with the carrier and will enable to replace all of the TU-134 and TU-154 operations before the end of this year.

All three A320-211s are ex-Ansett, and have registrations EK-32007 (msn 726), EK-32008 (msn 229) and supposedly EK-32009 for the latest addition.
The airline will soon be introducing two ATR 42s to replace Yak-40s and An-24.

There will be a total of 4 A320s in Armenia. What a contrast with the state owned Armenian Airlines which hardly could maintain a single A310 for many years and later was forced to cease operations because of financial difficulties.
Armavia and Armenian Int'l Airways jumped to the occasion and took over all of the state carrier's routes.

Armenian Int'l Airways flies a single A320-212 (msn 397) and operates to CDG, ATH, DXB, BEY and codeshares with OS to VIE
