Largest US Airport With An LCC?

Wed Oct 29, 2003 3:42 am

Which airport in the US is still without a low cost carrier?
CVG comes to mind. Anything else, and does anyone think that an LCC will take on Delta at CVG?

Do you mean without any LoCo period? Or without any LoCo operation sizeable enough to bother the Big6?

If so, ORD easily wins the former category.

CVG doesn't have a LCC unless you consider ComAir one.
Let's redefine the question. If we are looking for the largest LCC operation in one airport LAS, PHX comes to mind thanks to AWA and SWA.
If we are looking for the largest airport that is served by LCC than ATL it is since it is served by ATA. If the largest US airport happens to be ORD, then that is the answer since it is served by Sprit and AWA.

I would say LAX. It has always had LCC service whether it is Southwest today or PSA in the past.

"If we are looking for the largest airport that is served by LCC than ATL it is since it is served by ATA."

Do you mean AirTran? The only American Trans Air service we have in Atlanta is the occasional L1011 on an AMC mission.
