Thu Oct 30, 2003 5:42 am

DTW is going to be raising there landing fee's by 21%, what kind of impact do you think this would have on NWA and Spirit? Not to mention any of the other carriers there?

Thanks!

I dont think that would be a wise move for them. I thought they were trying to attract other airlines.

well since ironically DTW competes to some extent with YYZ who have skyrocketed their fees... I think they are seeing the debt load from the new terminal and have decided that they can afford to raise fees to pay it off.
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Story about the landing fee increase also in this morning's Detroit Newpaper.

DTW's fees will go from $3.26 per 1000 lbs to $3.97 per 1000 lbs.

FLL's landing fee is 97 cents per 1000 lbs.

The Detroit Free Press gave some estimates on how the new fees will impact certain aircraft types that use DTW.

DC-9-30 will rise from $322.74 per landing to $393.03

A320 Airbus will rise from $463.57 to $564.53

B757-200 will rise from $645.48 to $786.06

I heard a few weeks ago that YYZ has the highest landing fees in North America and are in the top 10 worldwide.

Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.....

Wow, I think this is the first time Cleveland has had lower landing fees than metro. And almost a dollar lower, too!

More or less to finance the proposed rebuild of the Davey terminal.

This likely won't affect NW too much, just tack on another dollar to passenger airfare.....

That doesn't seem like much of a much of an increase, but I'm sure it'll add up over time. Thanks for your input everyone.
