Alaska-Horizon-domestic Partners-A/C Deliveries

Thu Nov 06, 2003 2:58 am

Im reading about Alaska and Horizon becoming partners with Delta and serving SLC as well as Horizon feeding Frontier at DEN.

How many planes do they have yet to receive? Do they really have that many on order or are they going to be ordering more?

This year, Alaska is taking delivery of 11 new aircraft, all Boeing 737-700s or -900s, and retiring four MD-80s for net addition of seven aircraft. On tap for 2004 is the net addition of two aircraft.

We've got two more CRJ's and two more Q400's coming by years end...

Any more CRJ's and Dashes next year.

If I remember correctly the Frontier agreement calls for Horizon to supply 10 CRJs. For an airline of Horizons size that is quite a few.

I hope they dont take them all from PDX.

How come Horizon is saying that they are not hiring even though they have all these aircraft coming in?

It's going to be 9 total RJ's. Four initially and the rest by June.

For the most part they will come from our system. I think we have 2 deliveries for late next year. We're getting some Q400's to backfill the operation where RJ's have left.  Sad

Bahadir, hiring pilots? F/A's? MTX? What? For the most part the manning level is just fine. We actually have a few less a/c now than we did a couple years back. The F-28's left and we're down a couple. Was 62, now 59 I believe. We're not getting enough total new aircraft to go on a hiring spree. If it's ground service you're talking about F9 is handling all that as far as the Express operation goes. All we're basically sending to DEN is flightcrews and a few mechanics.

Im thinking there might be a small order for more RJs coming soon.

If I remember correctly PDX was going to be more of an RJ city than a mainline city. I would hate to see PDX loose service as the RJs move to DEN.
