None of the above. I flew United once, and after that flight from hell, I vowed never to fly them again. American supports a lot of political and social issues that I am against, and therefore I will not fly them for ethical reasons. Northwest has a tendancy to strand their pax. Plus, they are going through a lot of internal turmoil that I'm sure will have a direct negative impact on their service.
There is no route that they fly that I can't take another carrier on.

If you're hoping to fly a newer plane, go with United.
If you choose AA, you will most probably fly an old MD80, and if you choose NW, you will fly an even older DC-9.

You see American is good but not as good as United

My first choice would be American. Northwest would be my second choice, and United my third.

Everyone has their preference. If it were me, I'd avoid NorthWorst.

I fly American quite a bit, and very rarely do I have complaints. Unlike MattD, the political causes that American supports are ones that I agree with.

I've not always been a big fan of United, but I've never had bad service. I flew on one of their new A320s, and it was fantastic.

If you're shopping for price, you've missed the obvious answer: Southwest.

Political Causes?

Just what are these political causes you two are referring to?

American Airlines has, in the past, made financial contributions to the Human Rights Campaign, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

If MD 80S could fly around the world I swear AA would ude them exclusively.

Its almost a tradition for me now. Having to say no to AA flights cause they expect me to fly on those little tubes everywhere. The LEAST they could do is put some tvs in them, but NO they want you to sit stare out the window for excitement.

And that is whether it is SEA or PHX.

I would choose UNITED if I was you.

What route are you flying? Surely there are other airlines that fly the route you want to take?

I wouldn't fly any of those airlines, but if I had to pick one I would pick Northwest, only because I'm a Continental OnePass member! (otherwise I would pick United)

I would have to chose United because of the newer aircraft. The 777 is the coolest. I would definitely not go with the K-Mart of flying. Southwest.

I have only been on Northwest airlines. I call them Northworst because of all the bad experiences I have had with them. AA I hear is a really good airline to fly. The seats are a little un confortable. UA I would go with any day of the week. Good service and better planes and Connections.
