Antigua Delays

Sun Nov 09, 2003 6:43 am

06.55 AMM93 Antigua "No Remark"
09.15 BA2256 Greneda via Antigua "No Remark"
10:05 VS036 St. Lucia via Antigua "Expected 0810"

I don't think it's by any coincidence that three flights from the same place have huge delays. Whats going on in Antigua?

Hmmm... something must've happened down there, not sure when though. All the AA flights out of ANU today were also delayed majorly, and the inbounds cancelled yesterday.

Stephen

Antigua air traffic control went on strike without warning yesterday afternoon. VS35/6 LGW-ANU-UVF-ANU-LGW overflew ANU and night-stopped in UVF (St Lucia) so all the pax had to be found hotels before they carried on to Antigua when ATC returned to work today.

Cananews http://www.cananews.com/ has a little snippet confirming Airchabum's statement. The airport seems to be open now as some flights have departed. I wonder how the US airlines reacted to this vis-a-vis passengers. Did they tell them tough luck or actually put them up in hotels. Especially those stuck in SJU, and the Continental EWR-SXM-ANU-EWR flight that skipped ANU... the passengers would have been onboard when they go the info that ANU would be skipped.
