Bermuda To Offer AA Subsidies For MIA-BDA

Sun Nov 09, 2003 5:47 pm

Long wanting year-round, non-stop service between Miami and Hamilton, Bermuda, Bermudan officials have said they will offer subsidies to American Airlines to start non-stop MIA-BDA service, with hopes the service can be started by April 2004.

Bermuda offered incentives to USAirways over the summer to start FLL-BDA. USAirways did run the service for the summer season and never once had to dip into the subsidy bank offered by Bermuda, as the flight prooved popular and profitable (and it will be resuming next summer).

I spoke with US Airways agent were told me about of those load factors was doing good. Let go make of the daily flight from FLL-BDA for next year of summer 2004. Thanks!  Smile

This is a service Im surprised AA has not started , Im sure there is demand for the route (at least a daily 738 service could do the work ). If US made it work out if FLL Im sure AA can work it out in MIA.

I am very surprised too. Miami-Bermuda is quite a large market, and not only with leisure, but business too (hence, one reason FLL-BDA was such a huge hit money-wise). Not to mention it is a pretty high-yielding tourist destination in itself, hence it still has three-class AA flagship service from JFK. Though I definitley think AA will give it a try soon if Bermuda is agressive enough. I say they will start off with 4 or 5x weekly 738 service, eventually going to daily, and likely year-round.
