Getting A Job At An Airport/airline

Mon Nov 10, 2003 1:48 pm

I am 16 years old, and I would like to get a job working at either an airport, or working at an airline. Are any airlines hiring workers right now? I would also like to work on the ramp at an airport. Is 16 too young for this?

copaair737,

Sorry but the youngest age I know of is 18 to work at any airline, or to work as a security screener, etc. Good luck on finding a job in the future though!

I believe Southwest (and perhaps a few other carriers down there) has an "internship" program for High School students during the summer. Nwcoflyer is correct, though... for steady employment (part-time, for example) many carriers require you to be 18 years old.

You could get a job with a vendor at an airport. Such as a company that does wheelchairs and skycaping. Which airports do you live by? I may be able to help you out.

If you resided in the LAX area, the admistrative body that runs LAX, known as Los Angeles World Airports, has a very nice internship program whereby students that attend the local high schools, and have an interest in aviation, can get some "real world knowledge". If you're not in the LA area, perhaps your local airport offers a similiar program.
Best of luck to you!!!

Aaway:
Do you know if they accept students from up here in the Antelope Valley?
