New LCC Airfreedom.it

Tue Nov 11, 2003 11:43 pm

It is born a new LCC in Sardinia (Italy) that will serve the two main hubs of the islands (Olbia in the north and Cagliari, the Capital, in the south) to the European main capitals and the Italian main cities. Air Freedom is the first low-cost airline that includes on-board catering. The prices should be at around 100€ tax incl.

Here is their presentation on their webpage that is still under construction (www.airfreedom.it)

Freedom is like counting on a Sardinian air company which offers an incredible high quality service and an international safety level.

Freedom is having the chance to obtain flat rates as special and clear to let everybody to choose the swiftness and the comfort of a flight also for short haul trips.

Freedom is booking and leaving at the very last moment. Feeling everywhere the warmth of Sardinia, as the rest of Italy and Europe have never been so close with Air Freedom.

In order to further personalize the service. Air Freedom is the first low-cost airline providing only Sardinian typical products and goods as included on-board catering.

The destinations from Cagliari and Olbia are:
domestic: Turin, Bologna, Brescia, Naples, Rome/FCO, Bari, Trieste, Brindisi, Pisa
european: Copenhagen, London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Vienna, Budapest, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Zurich.

Does anyone know what fleet are they going to operate on? I see a 737-800 in their website, but how many?
Thanks for the info Fede,
Ciao Mati.  Big thumbs up

Oh, damn, sorry... I must have confused with another Venetian hehe  Laugh out loud
Their route map seems a bit extensive for only 4 aircraft... are they forgetting one of the LCC rule? Small number of destinations with lots of daily frequencies. FR has 4 daily to Stansted for example.

Ciao,
Mati Big thumbs up

So, certainly it is a LFC, not a LCC (low fare airline :-P)
I hope it's not another Gandalf...

Flights will be operated by Futura Intl Airways with B737-400s from what I know and they only want to serve most of those routes twice or three times a week. I heard they would only get three B737-400s.
