CAK 3rd Fastest Growing Airport In The Country

Wed Nov 12, 2003 12:06 am

Just heard on the morning new that AirTran is adding TPA from CAK nonstop starting 2-2004. They also mentioned that CAK is the 3rd fastest growing airport in the Country! Does anyone ever think that AirTran will ever make CAK a true hub? Crew base and even more flights than they already offer right now.

I love to hear great news about CAK. My Mom lives 5 min. from the airport and maybe, just maybe I can fly there non-stop from SFO one day. I can wish, right? Fred Krum has done a hell of a job with the airport, keep it coming fred.

A true hub? No.

A crew base? No.

A focus city with 20 or so flights a day? MAYBE.

I would not be surprised to see a CAK-FLL service in the near future, but I don't think CAK will become a true hub for airTran. Despite having a decently large hub operation at Atlanta, airTran is a very big point-to-point carrier.

Funny that Continental would call CLE "Northeast Ohio's fastest growing" airport in their latest CLE press release. They must really be annoyed with AirTran.

It's in the link's 11/10 article about new service to CLE. Maybe there's some statistical point that CLE's absolute growth is greater, while CAK's percentage growth is greater.
