Bamc - BA Maintenance Cardiff

Sat Nov 15, 2003 1:27 am

This question has always been on my mind ...

Why was the BAMC built at CWL?

In the future could it be a place where wings, fuselage etc could be built?

I would love to see Airbus take it over...

Have you heard of Chester? A new hangar was built specially for A380 wing contruction!

Has it?

I knew that the wings were being built there but I didnt know they had built a new hangar!

What is the runway like at Chester?

Must be fairly long to take off...

I would really like to see BA get rid of the BAMC at Cardiff and give it to Airbus!  Big thumbs up

Hmm, I thought that most of the components for the A380 were going to hauled to Toulouse & Hamburg via ship (which, I might add, have just been finished - in China).
I bet that that the Airbus Industries A300ST's are being put through its paces at the moment.

I thought this was a European Company not a French-Germanic company!

Maybe the UK & Spain should team up with Boeing and build an alliance! LOL Big grin

We do it in most other things...  Wink/being sarcastic

Joking aside, check the following out for info on Airbus

As for why BA are in Cardiff... skilled workforce in South Wales, cheap land, good incentives etc..

As for why Airbus will never be there... it's a maintenance base, Airbus already have manufacturing plants elsewhere etc..

As for why Airbus final assembly is in France & Germany... because the UK never joined the programme earliy enough and was never a major partner - poor strategic planning by the then governments....
I don't like signatures...
