Virgin To Increase LAS Service

Sat Nov 15, 2003 3:03 am

And offer a gambling class!!!

NORWALK, Conn., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Virgin Atlantic Airways announced this week that it will increase its services from Las Vegas to London with the addition of a fourth weekly service to Gatwick every Wednesday from March 17, 2004. The airline has also introduced a 'gambling masterclass' in its Gatwick Clubhouse and onboard a Las Vegas flight to celebrate this new service for passengers traveling between Las Vegas and London in November.

Due to increased customer demand for the current non-stop service from Las Vegas operating three times a week, the airline is adding a new Wednesday flight to the existing Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday service. The Boeing 747- 400 operating this route is configured with 28 Upper Class, 38 Premium Economy and 373 Economy seats.

Steve Ridgway, Chief Executive of Virgin Atlantic said:
I am delighted to announce the fourth non-stop weekly service
between Las Vegas and London for spring 2004. Since introducing the
first ever non-stop scheduled service between Las Vegas and London
in June 2000 Virgin Atlantic has carried over 300,000 passengers on
the route and we are certain its popularity will continue with both
business and leisure passengers.

Virgin Atlantic is always looking at innovative ways to enhance the
service we provide for passengers. We believe that the "gambling
masterclass" will go down very well with our Upper Class passengers
and hopefully improve their chances in the casinos during their
stay.

The 'gambling masterclass' will be available in the Gatwick Clubhouse during November while passengers are waiting for their flight from London to Las Vegas on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Top tips on Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette and Dice will be provided by a dealer who has been specially flown over from MGM MIRAGE, the largest resort operator in Las Vegas and owners of Bellagio, MGM Grand, New York New York, The Mirage and Treasure Island. The service will also be available for Upper Class passengers traveling to Las Vegas onboard the flight on November 25th.

From March 17 until March 24, 2004 the new Wednesday flight will depart Las Vegas at 4:05pm arriving at Gatwick at 9:55 am the next morning. From March 31 until 6 October 6, 2004 flights will depart Las Vegas at 5:45pm and arrive into Gatwick at 10:35am the next morning.

The flight will depart Gatwick at 10:45am, arriving into Las Vegas at 1:30pm between March 17 and March 24, 2004. From March 31 until October 6, 2004 flights will depart Gatwick 12:30pm and arrive in Las Vegas at 3:15pm.

Last week, a little (virgin) bird tells me that i can expect some cactus themed "Big News" early in the new year - he said probably April time.

Do you think this could be the "cactus themed" news as per CHRISBA77ER?

Virgin and Vegas IS a great mix.

And

For what ever reason, 747's just really look good at LAS. Very large hotels and very large aircraft just go together, I guess!

Ive seen that VS flight take off whilst waiting for some Buswest flight of my own ( the injustice!) and it was a gorgeous gorgeous sight. The silver body in the sun is really beautiful.

The gambling masterclass is a tad amusing considering that most research shows that people of a certain education/income level most likely to afford an Upper Class seat are the most unlikely to want to gamble. But its a nice enough promotion/flight gag  Smile

"Cactus" as in America West's callsign. The rumor is that Richard Branson may be buying a stake in HP in order to establish Virgin USA Airlines. I wish he'd start flights into ATL, but with DL and BA already offering ATL-LGW, I guess I have to fly to either MCO, MIA, IAD, JFK, EWR, or BOS to catch a VS flight.

As for the LAS flights, they ought to consider some of the other activities one can partake in the area. How about a masterclass on Nevada Brothels?

BA already serves PHX. I do not think BA and VS can both serve PHX. Let's see, what other city is there in the SW that use to have BA service?

I don't know if WN would want to do that route. It would have to be a red-eye!

Sorry chaps; who are WN, I'm a bit thick.

Didn't America West have a few maintenance issues a few years back?

I thought Virgin US was going to be on the East Coast, there was an article in Flight International that they were talking to Boeing and Airbus about orders both for Virgin Atlantic & USA

Mustve been one hell of a stag weekend! Better than the usual trip to AMS a la Eastenders!  Smile Someone just needs to tell them to lay off the roulette in the US and theyll be fine.

Loved the brothel idea! I thought that one company from Australia was building one up a little ways out of town. With its own airstrip  Smile not that you would ever take a 747 in there, but still.
