Airline targets women with all-male crew

In a bizarre twist on the traditional attractions of pretty air stewardesses, a Japanese airline is to test-market flights with all-male cabin attendants to attract female passengers, an official said.

Skynet Asia Airways is offering all-male cabin service for up to 300 passengers on a Men’s Flight round trip between Tokyo and the resort town of Miyazaki, 850 kilometres southwest of the capital. Four male cabin attendants, aged from the early 20s to 40, will be on board. Wearing bow ties, they will introduce themselves to customers and offer to take pictures with them. —AFP

Geez... we all know a large percentage of male FAs are gay anyway. So this is a lost cause, as far as I am concerned.

I don't think it will work at all.

They should copy Singapore's inflight service. Service, service, and SERVICE! With a beautiful lady in a beautiful uniform bringing all the drinks you can put under your belt. Now, that is a way to get more passengers. Personally, and not to sound sexist, it's a pleasure to fly that airline. You feel more at ease with a beautiful lady tending to your needs then some guy...

Just my opinion...

I had a flight last year from NCL-ACE with Spanair on an A321. the entire crew were male. It was a good service and flight, but it looked really funny when they started bringing round the perfume's they were selling, and spraying the passengers. very odd.

Good grief indeed. An all-woman crew for men would be nice too. The Cockpit visit could be very interesting! Bumpy landing anyone? And, don't forget, Airbuses have joysticks ...

Ryanair!!! What a rude, and monotonous assumption.
Most Male FAs are gay.. what a stereotype! I wouldn't think so. Do we think most male waiters are gay? NO! The only reason anyone would ever think to assume that most male flight attendants are gay is because most of them aren't married or don't have GFs. But you know why, cause their practically nomads!

Now i admire the fact you are trying to be politically correct and considerate, but, ummm, well at least in my country as far as the national carrier is concerned(a certain big red and white airline), and ditto for the german national carrier who's namesake i've borrowed, it is, without a doubt, very much the case.

My brother is a does some Modelling work in the UK (yes, he is before you ask) and when we've travelled together, ummm, they've flocked up to meet him and offer him everything under the sun, and quite freely admitted it to us. Now, as I said, that was just 2 carriers, QF and LH.... but, well it is certainly prevalent in those two.

UN_B732,
for once I'm going to agree with Lufthansa... and say cut the PC crap. Let's be real here, lotta male figure skaters dont have GFs, arent married, or come from different cultures/etc.... but I'd say it's fairly safe to say most of them are maids of Mary as well dude  Big grin

Pity... cant say the same about gymnasts though  Laugh out loud

Oh hell, if I was a Flight Attendant I would want everyone to think that I was gay, good way to get lucky. "Oh yeah, I am gay, but I think the right could make me love a women again, & then BAM!!! You are in like sin!

This is the modern world, Gay pilots, straight pilots, Gay Flight Attendants, Straight Flight Attendants, who cares! Afterall, you never know who is looking at your ass anymore.

OK, returning to the original topic...

If there is Hooters Air, which is obviously aimed at Men, why should there not be an all-male flight crew for the ladies? Bring it over to the western world. Then me and my GF could fly on different airplanes and we would both be happy when we arrive. Oh wait, we can also both be happy when we fly together. Whatever. Ignore this post. Repeat. Ignore this post.

Well, I say, if Hooters can buy an airline and theme it for men.......

Why can Cox Cable buy an airline and theme it for..... whomever?  Laugh out loud

i think 'Lust Lines' has an interesting ring to it.

well, the pilots for these flights would have to be carefully picked, becuause you wouldnt want some seductive stweardess finding her way into the...err..cockpit, now would we?

ok, this thread officially just got freaky. hear no evil, see no evil  Innocent

I think that if the airlines want to target gay men, offer the best in designer labels for the uniforms, the trendiest cabin interiors, and most of all, buff male flight attendants either wearing tight shirts or no shirts at all! Oh...and make the bathrooms bigger....  Wink/being sarcastic

For lesbians offer an interior made of wood, Home Depot products, and tongue -in-groove- flooring...  Wink/being sarcastic Oh ya, the fabric should be in plaid!

Hahaha, now that would be something to see!!

This was a fun topic of conversation! Hope I didn't step of anyone's toes.

I don't exactly know how it goes in Japan, but sex does sale. Hooters Air of Japan. Might work for Song in the US if they are really trying to make it appeal to women like I've heard.

If I was going to start an airline with all male cabin crews to appeal to women, I'd call it Stallion Air.

Was it Modern air that did that charter back in the 1970's that was geared toward male passengers.

To serve the passengers, the airline supplemented it's normal F/A staff with topless dancers from Germany.

These women-only flights are just a twist on the old "gentlemen-only" flights many airlines used to run years back (before feminism reared its' head).
