RJ Versus Turboprop Operating Costs

Mon Nov 17, 2003 5:35 pm

Hi all, I don't know whether this subject was already discussed or not, I am starting the topic because Codeshare asked me in this forum:
http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1259169/ about operating costs of RJ's versus turboprops. I must admit I have no idea. I would appreciate some help.

Thanks

Steph.

Some info here:

http://www.bombardier.com/en/3_0/3_1/pdf/RU_Jun03_2.pdf

Shows some seat mile comparisons between Q400 and CRJ's.

Interesting to note that Horizon has converted 2 firm CRJ700 orders to Q400 because of its operating cost and flexibility. This makes 7 Q400 operators re-ordering them.

T prop Thanks, looks like the Q400 is quite economic. Does somebody know how the ATR42/72 and the Embraer 145 perform on a flight of about 300 miles?
