Saudi Aircraft In Incident At SNN

Tue Nov 18, 2003 2:07 am

According to Ireland's RTE News, a Saudi airliner (type not stated) carrying 33 people from Canada to Jordan made a bad landing at SNN today, seriously damaging its nosegear.

Seems an unusual route for SV; presumably a VIP aircraft and one which would require a stop (therefore not MD11/747) - possbly 757?

Anyone in SNN region to confirm?

In a separate incident, a BA 777 made an emergency diversion to Dublin today, en route LHR-ORD. No serious damage reported.

I'll bet it was one of the Tristars. Either HZ-HM5 or HM6.

That's just a WAG though.

They don't have 757's.

It could be the VIP 707 or the L-1011. Or it could be any of their aircrafts but they decided that they wanted to visit Ireland.

There is actually a 757 in Saudi colours, used as an airborne hospital; it is, of course, a VIP aircraft.

It is an L1011, which had a "bad" landing. It was stopping for re-fuelling carrying members of the Saudi Royal Family.

Very interesting. This aircraft, an L1011, was here in Toronto. It was a VIP flight, and from what I hear, it was to bring the princesses shopping. Shopping in Toronto??? Can't be better than Dubai!

In any case, I didn't post anything beforehand, as I knew it was coming. I'm now paranoid about posting things like a visit from a Saudi aircraft due to security reasons. Look for pictures in the database soon!

Damn!!! Thats the Saudi Arabian one that left here! Aw geeze... I wonder if it can be repaired. She would have been ship #5. The L10-500.

Captain; I don't think we'll see any uploads cuz the photogs aren't impressed with their snaps.

I hope the girls weren't too shaken up - The poor things...
