Could The 7E7 Do Neat, New Routes Like These?

Tue Nov 18, 2003 8:19 am

Could the 7E7 help restore international service to underserved cities or cities that have lost international service like PDX, STL, PIT and SAN?

I know there might be a need for a hub or base of some kind on one end of these routes. With a range of 8,000 miles could it fly these profitably?

Cathy Pacific SEA-HKG or PDX-HKG
Korean PDX-SEL
JAL SAN-AA), Japan">NRT
ANA BOS-AA), Japan">NRT
Delta SLC-Paris
AA MIA-AA), Japan">NRT

Will this be the smallest plane with the most range?

Can someone give me a good example of how far 8,000 miles could be. Will it be able to do JFK-SIN?

Hello, This is my first day on A.net. Lets just say 8,000 miles is a long distance. The 7E7 is another version of the 777(thats what i think), only smaller. It looks like a huge shark to me. But its a cool plane.

Hey PIA777, welcome.

Does anyone know if there is a map of the globe on the Boeing website that shows us how far it will be able to fly? These kind of maps are usually shown in the promotions but I have yet to see one.

At 8000nm out of SEA, the only areas that the 7E7 wouldn't be able to reach are the lower half of Africa, southern tip of India and Sri Lanka, most of Indonesia, and the western half of Australia.

Those are still air distances. With an 8000nm range JFK-SIN is a stretch.

SQ is downconfiguring their 8750nm A340-500s for JFK-SIN.

Unless it has incredible takeoff performance and a short landing roll at a higher weight I doubt SAN will see it internationally(maybe DL to ATL though, that would be very nice).

On average 80 pax a day fly SAN to LAX and connect to MNL. The airfield performance for the 7E7 is supposed to be the same as a 767-400ER or better. Fully loaded, they would need 7950' of runway. Navy wives and their families. They could easily do 2-3 flights a week.

This trip is 6400 NM and the range is 8000 NM. There's a substantial fuel reduction on this, essentially reducing the MTOW to about 420K.

So maybe they could use a 7e7 SAN-MNL. That would be a very nice sight here in SAN!

Waaaaaaay too many WN 737s and MD-80s!
