Who's Planning Extra Capacity To India In Winter?

Tue Nov 18, 2003 8:53 pm

Dont know if this has already been touched upon in these pages, but just got to know that EK and MH lead the pack in offering additional capacity to/from India this winter during the open sky period 15NOV03-29FEB04. Other carriers who would make use of this facility are GF, CX, SQ, RJ, DL and LH.

Curiously Etihad Airways - the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (!!!) has also published a schedule reflecting operations to BOM 3/7 from AUH from Winter with a foot note "subject to bilateral issues". Have learnt from reliable sources that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed their application to be processed at God Speed.

Comments and inputs welcome.

Howdy Vimanav,

Not sure about other stations, but I believe Singapore Airlines will fly 4x to Bangalore (from 3x a week) and Lufthansa will operate 6 times a week to Bangalore during this open skies period.

There are also some unconfirmed rumor on Gulf Air increasing its Bahrain - Bangalore (currently 2x codeshare with IC) to 4x a week.

Cheers

The best person to provide a detailed analysis to your extra capacity to India question is Sean Mendis B 747-437B.

Other than that I have not read about EK increasing flights nor capacity to India this winter...if u know something concerning EK please post it or provide a link.

As for who I know are increasing capacity to India, its AF-VS-SQ-MH-DL(early Jan for 2 weeks only where they will have 11 weekly flights I think for 2 weeks) -TG & GF.

Surprisingly, I havent heard anything from EK-QR-CX-JL on their Indian plans this winter. But I would definitely expect EK and QR to take advantage of the open sky policy in Dec-Jan...esp EK!!!

EK is operating between 300-350 upgrades plus extra sections to India during 15NOV-29FEB

MH plans 50 odd additional flights during the same period.

I know about LH/SQ/GF/DL/CX also operating additional services - exact numbers I dont readily recall. If they do manage to get the aircraft rotation mathematics right then KU will also operate about 50 upgrades all over India and 20 extra sections to BOM.

Anyone else ? Especially all this talk of AZ, SA, QR to DEL from January or February ?? Any inputs ?
