ACA Goes With Airbus

Wed Nov 19, 2003 11:48 am

Since it's a press release, I assume it to be true:

The timing is interesting, and the ramifications for UAL at IAD are interesting, too. They plan to release more news tomorrow.

cheers

I noticed the phrase "rebranding". Will ACA unveil a completely new identity? Atlantic Coast is such a regional name that I doubt it would be appropriate with their new game plan. Any suggestions? DCAir comes to mind (wink-wink).

If they succeed in getting anything near 325 daily departures from Washington-Mirabel.... then you can bet your lil' hiney they'll be a thorn.  Laugh out loud

Well, ACA has over 300 daily departures out of IAD versus United's 80?

Hum.... this will be interesting to see what happens...

OzarkD9S:

They're having a press conference tomorrow (Wednesday) to announce details of the planned LCC.

My guess would be that the name will change. At the moment, the in-house code is Goldilocks, in much the same way that TED was originally Starfish.

cheers

Sigh I remember ben UA had almost 200 a day from Dulles, and really liked it.

325 a day is bullshit. No way they'll do it, although I've long argued a well-developed Dulles hub could support it.

Concourse A is hardly equipped to handle the Airbii.

How is United going to preserve their IAD hub?

I'm not sure they can.

However, someone will have to step in. Dulles can support a full service carrier, and really can support all the transatlantic service it has. Someone will need to operate more flights there.

LOL @ ConcordeBoy...Washington-Mirabel  Smile

Anyway, I'm a little surprised they showed some restraint and didn't place a bigger order. I figured they'd see everyone else (FL, B6...) placing these huge orders and place one themselves. Also, I think giving Airbus a nice big nonrefundable deposit would have helped make them less attractive to Mesa.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.
