Canadian Pacific

Could anyone let me know what happened to this company? My earliest aviation memory is being taken to Manchester Airport and seeing one of these massive silver and orange beasts! A view something like this:

Didn't they turn into Canadian, which was subsequently "integrated into" Air Canada?

They were bought by Pacific Western, the merger created Canadian Airlines, which is now completely integrated into Air Canada.
