Transportation At YUL

Thu Nov 20, 2003 11:52 am

Hello you Montrealers,

I am going flying into YUL next Tuesday. I have a meeting the next day and will be staying at the Aeroport Hilton. I bought a ticket for the Montreal/Vancouver game and wanted an inexpensive way to get to and from the airport and downtown. I noticed on the Dorval website that there is a shuttle to downtown for $21 return. Is there a public transit option that is fairly convenient from the airport, or is the airport shuttle the best option.

Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ken

Usually there is cheap bus transit, but the bus mechanics are currently on strike, so service has been slashed.

There's a commuter train link right into downtown from the Dorval station.. probably a small walk from the Hilton. There's currently a transit strike in the city at the moment.

... while the ultra-supercombabulating Ottawa Senators pisses all over them, a leaf bitch chained up at their feet.

Whooohooo, Jacques Martin for prez! I mean... Prime Minister... whatever...

Inform yourself at the arrivals section for the shuttle skeds to the subway station. The subway is the way to go in MTL.

Bah! It's always fun to go over the "Centre Bell" and listen to disenchanted Habs fans chant the bible to and fro as the game unfolds.

The atmosphere is great though. Great city, have fun! Club Danse Super Contact!

Thanks for the info. I am from Vancouver, so I'll definitely be cheering for the Canucks. Looks like a shuttle to the Metro might be the best option. When you say a transit strike does that include the metro and buses?

It does include the metro and city buses, but I think there is service during the peak hour.

Here is some info about the metro and buses

There is not bus service from the Hilton I don't think, but nearby, there is the 211 or the 204 which take you to Metro stations that will get you easily to the Bell Center (which is Lucie L'Allier on the Orange line)

I always take the cab.. They just raised the fare to $31 one - way flat, but it is still convenient for my weekly trips to Rue Metcalf from the airport and back..

The train is also an option. It is not affected by the strike and the Dorion-Rigaud line goes by near the Dorval Hilton.
The schedule is however intended for suburb residants working downtown.

Yeah the train is almost totally a suburban rush-hour thing -- that's pretty much it's raison d'être , after all-- so unless its schedule happens to fit yours, the city bus is the real public-transit option to use. Which incidentally, is fully available as of a couple hours ago -- the maintenance workers union voted in favour of the latest proposal this afternoon and the strike is over. (Métro`s already running too, at this time)

Have a good stay in Montréal this week!
