Airtran To DTW Today

Fri Nov 21, 2003 10:06 am

Airtran operated flight 5048 ATL-DTW-MSP-DTW today. By the flight number this is obviously a charter, but can anyone tell me what it was for?

I know this kind of post happens everyday, so I apologize for it in advance.

I can tell you it was some kind of military charter. However, I don't have the specifics.

Well, since I was the lead flight attendant working it, I can fill you in.

On Thursday morning, we ferried the aircraft to DTW from ATL, then carried an army reserve unit to MSP. We then ferried the aircraft back to DTW, and carried another reserve unit to MSP. We overnighted in MSP, then ferried the aircraft to Alexandria, LA yesterday morning where we picked up Honor Guard troops, and took them to Andrews Air Force Base last night. After we dropped them off (and I got the opportunity to watch the arrival of Air Force One, as well as the C17 carrying the presidential limousines), we ferried the aircraft back to ATL last night.

Quick and easy two-day charter op.
