Why 2 UA 744s At LHR This Morning?

Mon Nov 24, 2003 10:25 pm

I checked in the Star Alliance download timetable, it says one UA 744 is going to IAD, but what about the other one? Already the SFO service?

Either SFO or ORD I would say.

Could be a substitution for a broken 777 or they could have flown it there after a military charter from the middle east for maintenance or to swap it out with the IAD 747 to get it back to the states for service. I think all the scheduled ORD's are 777s.

Actually I heard that UA were reintroducing 747s at LHR. Dunno if it makes much sense, summer yeah sure but not right now. Anyway those 747s you saw may not be subs, maybe sent 'in anger' if you know what I mean.

They have been returning some 777 with high leases and instead they are using parked 744. I guess that could be one reason.

Heard that a lot more B 744s will be flying for UA. But how many more?

Jopavon has it: "They have been returning some 777 with high leases and instead they are using parked 744. I guess that could be one reason." That's right, they're not subs, proper sked.
