Britannia's Revised Livery (Thomson)

Fri Nov 28, 2003 5:51 am

What do you think of the new Britannia name and revised livery? I personally think it's worse that the TUI one. Who is Thomson anyway? The founder of Britannia?

Argh what have they done to Britannia! That livery is awful and as if the TUI colourscheme couldn't get any worse they've somehow managed it! Fair enough with the rebrand, but they could have done something far more imaginative and inspiring.

I'll give the 'operated by Britannia' titles on the nose 12 months before that'll be erased aswell.

Its not as bad as I thought it would be, I like the "Operated By Britannia" titles at the nose. It is not as nice as the old colours though.

Its awful!

I prefer the old Britannia liverly not that!

Thompson is a holiday company who I think owns Britannia.

How much longer will it take for the other charter airlines to copy what Britannia has done?

First choice has already renamed Air 2000 "First Choice Airways."

If I had to chose between either the Thompson liverly or the First Choice liverly, it would have to be the First Choice livery. I think this because at least the First Choice liverly is alot smaller than the ugly Thompson liverly!

I like it!

im a big britannia fan, but i think the new thomson livery is very striking and underlines the fact that thomson is the no 1 uk tour operator.

I think it will look great on the 763 as well, but it might look a bit funny on the 762 as that aircraft is quite short and stubby.

Is Thomson a British travel company chartering Britannia's planes? If so, why paint the planes like that? I flew with Britannia on a Star Tour package from OSL-AGA, but the plane had the classic blue Britannia livery.

Britannia 2x, Monarch, Air 2000, Air Tours aka Mytravel have all changed their livery in the last couple of years. It is kind of ridiculous.

Identity crisis? What is the purpose of changing the livery so often. Does it help with customer perception?

If it was any other business, I would question their reasons for changing so often. But Im sure these companies are being bought and sold like candy, so I can see a reason.

The old Britannia livery had been around some time so they obviously thought they had to change it. So they change it to the TUI scheme. But that doesn't really fit in with the whole "Britannia" scheme. So to follow on what they did i think it was wise what they did, although i do think they shouldn't have changed at all.

Its the same with Air 2000. It's nearly 2004 now. They had to change name, although once again i wish it had stayed how it was before.

Monarch has done welll with their livery, but will they soon be changing to Avro Airways?

Thomson is the largest UK tour operator and Britannia is Thomson's own airline

This is not good. I wonder what Rick will have to say about this.

The whole World of TUI liveries are a mess.
The blue is awkward.
The a/c might as well be painted pink.

Hansn't TUI/Neckermann got shares in Thomson? Or is it the other way round?

It certainly is Ryanair737,

Monarch have just repainted one of their A300's in the new colourscheme and it looks very smart indeed - gives them a new lease of life in my opinion!
I'll post the link as there are no photos of it on a.net yet

Not awful, but I'm not a great fan of it. This is still the greatest Britannia livery though:

There is one photo of the new Monarch livery on the A300 "G-MONS" but it just shows the nose close up so you cannot actually see the colour scheme

I agree the Monarch scheme is very classy

It could be worse - it could have no mention of Britannia on the livery at all. Then Britannia really would be gone  Sad
