Landing Lights On Fog Conditions

Do they t/o with landing lights off? Because I was on EHAM tonght, and I only heard planes, did see nothing. Also landing planes were all lights off... Is that normal? I guess its because the will blind theirselves with it...

Maybe the fog was so thick you couldn't see the lights

Bright lights and fog create a refelction that can make it very hard to see, and the pilots may have had that problem. The light is reflected off of the water in the fog. This is the same reason that you are not supposed to drive in fog with your high beams on.

Within 30 miles of landing airport and below 10,000 feet...
