Odd Britannia Arrival At CWL Today

Sun Nov 30, 2003 5:20 am

Ok, apologies for another CWL thread, but does anyone out there know any details about the Britannia flight that arrived into CWL this morning from Santiago and Bridgetown?

Did it originate in Santiago de Chile or Santiago de Compostela?

Any information, guys?

Forgot about that one!

Any other Santiagos lurking out there?  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

In that case, I am assuming that the flight was carrying cruise passengers home?

No more Santiagos (that means Santiagos having an airport...)
Santiago de Cuba is a 'sol y son' destination (beach and music...), not really a cruise-ship point.

Cant say why the aircraft flew in from SCL, but it appears as though there will be 2 more, one on 30th Jan, 2004 and one March 12, 2004.
Was definately Chile, though.

Regards
Mark

I guess it was the same as:

Monarch - Santiago-Varadero-Gatwick
Thomas Cook - Santiago-Barbados-Gatwick
Thomas Cook - Santiago-Barbados-Manchester
Britannia - Santiago-Barbados-Gatwick
Britannia - Santiago-Barbados-Manchester

Dunno why though, last week there was only Barbados flights. I imagine it may have been a cruise around the Galapogus Islands.

Royal Caribbean cruises charter, BY gets them every Winter along with the other charter airlines.

Did a couple myself last Winter to BGI and FLL / PBI.
I used to love the smell of Jet-A in the morning...

Perhaps an additional drop-off point? MAN has also seen services to Buenos Aires this winter.

Cruises start and finish in Santiago too. We had a couple of trips to Manaus, Brazil (MAO) for the start of the P&O Amazon cruise last Winter. Those flights simply tech stopped in BGI for fuel and a crew change. One of them even made it all the way home to MAN non-stop which is quite a trip.
