777 New Order In 2003

Sun Nov 30, 2003 10:31 am

While checking Boeing's web site this afternoon, I was very surprise to see the total number of new 777 order Boeing received in 2003 is sitting at 3. This number seems to be low, can anyone confirm it? How is Airbus doing on their widebody aircraft order (340 and 330)?

Yes, this year has been a slow one for the 777.

The 4 orders came from GECAS for the 773ER to fill Emirates' order (adding on to the original 10 ordered by GECAS in 2000)

I believe it was Lauda Air who canceled 1, leaving a net order of 3 for the year

GECAS actually ordered four 773ER to help it fill EK's requirement... but Boeing lost 1 order, so the net is three.

*****

Keep in mind that while the number of fresh orders is indeed very low for the first year in the 777's history... do remember that ILFC/GECAS did manage to place twentysix 773ERs with EK (by converting some of their former 772 orders... which equals income for Boeing)

Also,
KE has an outstanding order for 773ER that has yet to be firmed.

There's a considerably likelihood that both SQ and QR will order 777NGs within the next month (DXB Air Show) or two.

What, will EK order more long-haul aircraft?

They must be really heading for domination in the world aviation market

According to the download available on the Airbus site... they claim the following orders for 2003 for these aircrafts;

A330: 47
A340: 33
A319: 41
A320: 88
A321: 7
A300: 6
A310: 0
A380: 26
A318: 0

Total: 248

This is 2003 up to OCt 31st. The Excel spreadsheet is available here;

EA777,

actually, I meant QR... just mistakenly wrote EK due to thinking about the DXB Air show.  Big grin
