I´m living in the Netherlands and was born in Colombia, but as baby went with my mother and father to Europe. So i was learned very soon howto love aviation and especially colombian aviation. Since 1996 i´m traveling every year to Colombia when possible. First with Avianca in 89 an 90 with 747-200 (the good old days) 91 with bad service Viaza DC-10 and 96 / 97 and 99 and 2000 again with Avianca with their 762´s. When Avianca had bad economic situations i flew with IB
a340 and BA
772 and last week 763.
When possible I wil travel in Colombia by airplane between BOG
and Cali, Manizales or Pereira with Avianca, sam. Aces (rip)
Last week I arrived in BOG
tommorow i will leave for Pereira with AV

Federico I agree with you and really hopes that BA
will upgrade their planes again to Colombia. We must be patiant!! I was told by BA
that they stopped their 777 service this year so it was not the 9/11 problems (they still use their 772´s to their islands in the caribbean and Brasil) It was of bad economic situation over the last year in Colombia (less pax) and also the rare problems that Venezuela has with Chavez and now with their economy: so also less pax!!! They changed their 777 into 763 last spring. As i wrote my mother travelled to BOG
with 772 and returnd with an 763! Since spring they only use the 763. I think when the economic situation will recover in Colombia and VEN, more pax will travel again with BA
. And hopefully they will change again to their 772.
But my dream is that their will be an direct flight LHR
on a 772 or 744. And in the future with Avianca again. This will become very hard becasue of their slots. I think that Avianca stopped service to LHR
in 2000 but they could save their slots for a long time!!, But last year when the had big financial problems the sold their slots at LHR
changed the CCS
flight from LGW
for better connections to their cotumers, like me, i now have a better flight connection to AMS
. So if Avianca wants to have their slots bakc it would be impossible, the high costs and also busy LHR
!! To enter LHR
or leave you always must wait extra time because of an busy Airport
There are a lot of Latinos(Colombianos) in England, The Netherlands and Germany, maybe also scandinavia?? I think that BA
can take a profit of it because LH
don´t travel for along time to BOG
and also KLM and belguim!! So i think that the service will be kept... after all these flights LHR BOG
are always fully loaded and last months more Colombians than Venezualans!
When my mother travelled aslo with BA
she always had World Tails into BOG
. Its very special because BA
is returing almost everything into the UNion flag!! I will give special intention to my back flight at the end of this month!
About really heavys(pax) into Colombia; At the moment only a340 IB
767´s Avianca and BA
(All from and to europa ) USA airliners only put in small equipment and Latin carriers Lan chile 767! (but i think you guys knows that better than I do)
Maybe in the future again 772 with BA
and if we are lucky an a340-600 from IB

yesterday i was at BOG
eldorado airport with a good Colombian cracy aviatin friend of mine!! and i could´t beleive my eyes!! It was and its true I saw an 742 of IB
landing infront of my and my friend!! I was to late to take a pic! Also was at puento areo!! so i could see it very clear.
Today i looked to the IB
internet site and they will put their 742 until next wednesday!! So if your in BOG
please take a minute to take a pic!! they arrived about 5 pm every day!! So a little heavy is finally back!! Its great to see that!!! But its only for an week i guess for overloaded pax coming to celebrate navidad etc!! Maybe next year at the same time an a340-600 because they will retire their 747 fleet!
For cargo Colombia gets 747 from Cargolux, Atlasair and dc-10 from ?? gemini?? and dont forget the nice dc-8 from tampa!!! I was told that they will get next year 4 or 5 762 so Tampa is going strong!!! Yes!! Thats what Colombia needs!! Now only Avianca!!

It was also very rear to me. Those russian airlines normally fly here in europe Asia and Africa. But my friend told me that this flight was an special delivery. It had an helicopter for an Colombian company or army?? If you want to more of it i can ask it again! At the end of the 90 also a big Russian cargo plane came to BOG
for big deliveries!!! So i guess it was great to see and maybe hear (incredible sound) this plane coming into Medellin!!!
