Best Frequent Flier Credit Cards

Wed Dec 03, 2003 6:30 am

Found this article from Money Magazine on CNN's website:
http://money.cnn.com/2003/12/02/pf/debt/moneymagazine_creditcard_0312/index.htm

You have to select "Best Frequent Flyer Cards" from the drop-down menu in the "Credit Card Deals" box in the article.

I'm quite happy with DL Skymiles Platinum Amex card. Great source of miles!

For those people living in the UK, the best card is the BMI Mastercard. Much better than BA Amex, Amex Membership rewards, American Airlines Visa or Virgin Flying Club Mastercard.

Spend £8000 to fly to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin or Paris,
Compared to

£12,000 for BA Amex or Amex Membership rewards
or £25,000 on the American Airlines VISA

Plus I got a free flight in Europe when I applied and there is not annual fee.

Even use it to charge lunch.

Cheers

Like the article points out, you have to charge a lot to make it worth it. Otherwise the fees are more than the plane ticket would be.

Alaska's is good...$45 for a gold card, and miles can be used on AA, CO, NW, BA, KLM, Qantas, Hawaiian and Lan Chile.

Amex Rewards is a stiff $100 per year, but you can buy up to 500,000 miles per year on several carriers. It's not worth it for coach, but a business class ticket to Europe can be had for about $1,800. Better than the regular price.

In Australia the Qantas ANZ Visa Card *was* the best, until they applied points capping. AmEx is quite good, especially at the moment with 1.5 points per dollar, aswell as double points in supermarkets and petrol stations. It's nice to earn 3 points per dollar  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
