Song/Delta

Fri Dec 05, 2003 12:35 am

I'm curious as to how DL will be replacing mainline 757s as they get refit and sent over to Song. Will Song be purchasing used aircraft or expanding its fleet solely with aircraft taken from DL's mainline fleet? If that is the case, what will DL replace the 757s with? Are they a potential customer for the 739?

Any thoughts?

Well since Song is doing more and more flying and replacing DL on some routes then I think they balance themselves out, right now at least.

Plus, DL isn't shifting all of its 757s to Song, right?

I thought I read that the Song fleet will be roughly 35+ aircraft in the fleet. Well I also read that Song would not be operating to and from ATL and we saw how long that lasted.

Song pretty much operated to and from ATL just for crew rotations and mtc issues with starting the ops up.

Many former Delta mainline 757 flights have been replaced by MD-88 and 737-800 aircraft. Likewise, quite a few former M88/738 flights out of ATL/CVG have been replaced by the 737-200's, which have been refitted for mainline operations. Some routes have seen decreases in capacity due to the equipment swaps.

Luv2fly....... I was thinking along the same line as you about the "balancing" act.... DL's flights will increase a little and Song's will increase equally.. but.. look at some of the pairings that Song is flying..... FLL-LAX , FLL-LAS. These are new, not existing routes that DL already flew. Obviously some new planes had to come into the fleet to operate these flights. Who knows what new pairs they will come up with as they expand.

Song looks like it is doing fairly well. Here are some stats...........

These are all numbers for the month of November only :

Ontime - 86.2%
Passengers - 573,861
Total flights - 4138
Flights cancelled - 0.2%

The total seats available for the month of Nov. system wide was 823,462 and they filled 573,861 of those for a 70% LF

The load factors are pretty high on these flight from Florida to New York - JFK, LGA, & EWR. What are you about need added more expansion of Song out of FLL anytime soon? Thanks!  Smile

I wonder how long it will be until we see Song Domestic and Delta International.
