A319 Ops Approved For Florence, Italy?

Tue Dec 09, 2003 10:22 am

And how about the 737-700? Is AZ currently scheduling A319s into FLR? How long is that runway, BTW?

Yes, AZ is currently scheduling at least one daily round trip between MXP and FLR using the A319. However, it is significantly weight restricted--no more than 100 passengers, possibly fewer.

I believe the 737-700 has been to FLR for demonstrations to Meridiana as a potential 146 replacement--or at the very least Boeing has made a sales pitch to that effect--but I don't think there is any regularly scheduled 737 service at FLR.

Runway 05/23 at FLR/Peretola aka Amerigo Vespucci is 1,688 m.
Nice little airport very close to city center, just 5km by taxi or bus. Should not be confused with Galileo Galilei in Pisa, which some online travel websites will book you into if you don't specify FLR. This airport is 80km by train from central Firenze, not very convenient!
