Thu Dec 11, 2003 6:29 am

ADB2715 will be landing around 527pm local time from GDL. Just saw it on flytecomm. Seems this big freighter is getting alot of time here in the US!

Yeah it was actually. But many have said the main assembly took place in what is now Ukraine although some parts make have come from other parts of the USSR.

Just saw it outside our 6th floor window in the Galleria area a few moments ago...it was flying relatively low, so I had to calm some of the folks down Big grin

Thanks for the heads up, Tu154m - pretty unique bird!

Hey guys, I saw this beast departing from IAH today on my way home from school. Man that was awesome! My first time to see the famous An-225 Big thumbs up

I heard an unusually loud plane coming, and when I could see it I instantly recognized it as the An-225; it's double tail fin and 6 engines were a dead giveaway.

So does anyone know where she was off to? Anyone get any pics? How bout when her next visit to IAH will be?

Thanx,

So where does the An-225 fit in terms of being the "largest aircraft" currently flying. If it's not, what is? What was it doing in Houston? When will it be back? How could they spend the money to design this, tool an entire factory, and then only make 1?

The AN-225 was in GDL to pick up some cargo to Turkey via IAH, it is said that maybe it can come back to return the cargo, but not sure if via IAH.

Anyone knows where is GML? This is were the AN225 was coming from on the way to GDL.

**The AN-225 was in GDL to pick up some cargo to Turkey via IAH, it is said that maybe it can come back to return the cargo, but not sure if via IAH.**

It was picking up powerplants for the Army Corps of Engineers. It was at MCO two weeks ago picking up similar equipment. I am assuming that the powerplants will be going to Baghdad eventually but they didnt want to risk flying it into Iraq for fear of it getting shot down.

I spoke with the man who was in charge of the shipping of the equipment and he said that it would be heading to IAH in a couple of weeks then and should be making a return to MCO again sometime late December.

I saw this morning on flytecomm that it was back and went out there about 12pm and it didn't look like any cargo was being moved. I'm guessing it will be leaving Monday some time. It was definitely worth the drive to see something that huge. It dwarfs the UPS 727 that was next to it. The funny thing is when I got home there was a show on the travel channel talking it.

I took a picture of it on the cargo apron, but it is fairly distant as you cannot get very close these days
