DL/ATL Service

Thu Dec 11, 2003 6:20 pm

This weekend, I'm flying Delta for the first time in years. My routing is LAX-ATL-FLL. My understanding is that food is NOT served on either leg. With the airlines' new food protocols, is it accepted for passengers to bring their own burgers or sandwiches on board? Do Delta's 764's have PTV's? What kind of entertainment should I expect on the 764 and for ATL-FLL on a 763?

Most importantly, I have 40 minutes to connect in ATL. Will I have enough time, or should I run like a mad man? Also, should I be worried about my bags being successfully transferred? Thanks for your insight.

You'll be perfectly fine  Smile In fact, you SHOULD recieve some sort of a meal from LAX-ATL..It's called the the Little Blue Bag, has a sandwich, drink, chips, etc.

And yes, it's always acceptable to bring food from the airport fact, if the flight's rather long and they don't plan on any coach service, oftentimes the gate agents will actually encourage you to go out and grab some food.

Neither the 764 nor the 763 have PTV's in coach...but they do have screens all over the place, so expect a movie to ATL  Smile

In ATL, you'll be ok, 40 mins is actually a decent layover lol. Just assuming you don't have to run from A to E lol. More than likely, it'll be an A arrival, and an A departure..or something close to it. And your bags should be fine as well..if they aren't, theyd make it on the next flight.

Thanks for choosing Delta, and on behalf of all skyteam members worldwide, thank you for flying with us  Big thumbs up

The flights I have taken with Delta (all through ATL) have had layovers long enough to catch my next leg (40 minutes, no problem), even if in different terminals. The underground transportation system they have down there for inter-terminal movement has always worked fine for me.

Connecting in ATL is easy. From one end to the other it can be done in 15 min, without the Barry Sanders imitation. As far as food goes I think your flight has food for sale in coach. I haven't been on one of those flights yet so I can't comment on the quality. From LAX to ATL here is the menu
Atlanta Bread Company does ATL outbound flights. The food at their stores is very good. The prices on the plane are about the same as the Atlanta Bread in the airport.

If you go to you can look up your flights under schedules and find out for sure and get the expected arrival and departure gate info for ATL. I hope you have a good flight.

One thing I've got to say about ATL is that changing terminals is a non-event - the trains are frequent and fast.

I suggest that you go to the Delta website and look up the flight info for your particular flight. I just looked up DL486 LAX-ATL 10:10am/5:20pm. Under the DETAILS button it lists that there is a movie, a meal in First Class and Food for Sale in Coach. It also list the scheduled departure and arrival gates (subject to change). Elsewhere on the Delta website is says that the movie for East/North bound flights is Lara Croft Tomb Raider: the Cradle of Life.

Have a great flight.

I have had many transfers with Delta, Everything works out fine. The bags make it with out a worry. I don't know how they do it but it works. The transfer time is short but perfect for a competant person you will probably arrive to the gate 20 min before departure, just in time to board.

Do not take your time walking around or going the wrong way on the train that connects the terminals. If you are lucky you will arrive in the same terminal and depart the same terminal, but I doubt that. I fly between LAX and MCO/FLL/TPA via ATL a lot, and have never arrived and departed the same terminal for a connection. I have only missed 2/12 connections, so I guess that is a 80 something % sucess rate.

DL has plenty of flights though between ATL and Florida's big cities, so dont' sweat it if you miss the connection. I have been reaccomodated by friendly staff, and didn't arrive into MCO to late (like an hour and a half later b/c I took another flight)
The New American is arriving.

Just hope it is not raining in ATL or the East coast when you fly!
